VisArG - was established in 2007 by an aspiring artist named Erickson Kloock (aka eDOT). The name VisArG is an obvious acronym created for Visual Arts Gallery. The idea for creating such a Gallery was inspired by a book written by artist/author Aldous Huxley in 1954, titled "The Doors of Perception". This book would also inspire a young Jim Morrison to name his legendary band 'the Doors' after it.
acquiring, interpreting, selecting and organizing sensory information Although 'The Doors of Perception' is an actual detailed account of the author's experiences taking mescaline; VisArG was conceived more from the title rather than the content of the book. eDOT embraces the phrase 'the doors of perception' and beleives that it represents the very essence of Art in its most raw and purist definition. Artist eDOT states "the mind is made up of many chambers, and by opening different chambers or 'doors', one can see the same object many different ways. In a sense, making that object infinite... and confirming the statement that Art, truely is in the eye of the beholder". VisArG embodies that statement and eDOT further concludes, "that phrase is the reason why one man's trash, is another man's treasure". Believing that art is infinite, VisArG does not classify styles of art under the 'industry standards' such as cubism, abstract, expressionalism, surrealism, art deco, impressionism, etc... etc... etc. Art is and only is, how it is perceived by the beholder. PERIOD! At the moment, VisArG is designed as a Showcase for artist eDOT. However within the next year or two, VisArG will be a freestanding Art Gallery showcasing the next generation of artists in the Metro Detroit area; complete with Studio space for those artist to work in an inspiring and creative surrounding. Some of the space will also include a "hands on" learning center for the young and aspiring. |
